Health Conscious Mom Gets Stronger And More Lustrous Hair When She Replaces Her Shampoo With This Apple Cider Vinegar

If you're concerned that your shampoo may be damaging your hair more than nourishing it, this may be the answer you have been looking for.

Ashlee Mayer got off the shampoo wagon in February of 2013 and hasn't looked back since. Here's what her hair looks like today.


Her routine started off like this:

  • wash with baking soda
  • condition with apple cider vinegar
  • repeat every 3 to 5 days

Here's the apple cider vinegar that she recommends.

She makes a paste out of a couple tablespoons of baking soda and water and massages it into her scalp while it's wet. She rinses it out and then follows it up with the apple cider vinegar (ACV) by spraying it on using an inexpensive spray bottle like this one.

She also uses argan oil to reduce frizz and add shine. Just add a couple drops of it to your hands, rub them together to warm it a bit, and then rub your hands through your hair.

The is the "mother" of apple cider vinegar. It's what produces the beneficial enzymes in all high quality vinegar.

Her routine has evolved as she learned more about her hair and now includes bentonit clay, a regular scalp massage to encourage natural oil production, and a boar bristle brush to help distribute those oils down the shafts of her hair.

Now be warned if you're going to try this that your scalp needs a period of adjustment to start producing the natural oils that your hair needs to be healthy. Using shampoo and conditioner for years has stripped your hair of its' natural oils and it takes time and effort to bring them back to a natural healthy balance.

But if you can stick with the program, you'll be rewarded with beautiful hair that doesn't need expensive salon products to look healthy.
