After juicing for years and being fortunate enough to check out dozens of different machines, my favorite slow juicer is this one from Tribest. How To Spend Less Money On Juicing
One of the biggest fears most people have when they first get into juicing is how much it's going to cost. They want to do what's best for their bodies but they don't want to spend too much either.
I completely understand that. Nobody can realistically afford to spend hundreds of dollars on produce every week.
So what do they do?
Instead of getting the best slow juicer they compromise and get a less expensive centrifugal juicer. Pretty good ones can be had for less than one hundred dollars.
But here's what usually happens.
The first thing that they notice is how much more expensive it is to buy organic so they choose to get "regular" produce.
Then when they get it home and process it they realize that making just one glass of green juice took half a bag of baby spinach, four carrots, a cucumber, an apple, two celery stalks and a handful of kale.
It gets expensive quick, so they give up after a couple trips to the grocery store.
But since you want to stick with a regular regime here's what I recommend you do.
Don't go uber cheap with the juicer you choose. At least get a masticating juicer instead of the more common centrifugal one, even if it's not the best one. Here a a few good juicers that fit the bill.
Now since you'll be squeezing more out of every bit of produce you'll be spending less money at the grocery store. You'll actually get your money back in a month or two versus what you would have saved by getting a less expensive machine.
Why Buying Local Produce May Be Better For Your Long Term Health
I'm not going to try to scare you into only using organic produce. There's a lot of conflicting research out there about how pesticides effect your health. And there are many pesticides that organic farmers are allowed to use.
Yes, organic farmers can use some naturally derived pesticides. Just because they come from natural sources it doesn't mean that you want to put them in your slow juicer.
We know that the big companies care more about what's best for profits and not for people. We have seen them do it time and time again. So why trust them when you can help support your local farmer by purchasing your fruits and vegetables from them.
You might find the local farm stand to be much more reasonably priced that you had thought. They don't have to worry about shipping their food across the country while figuring out how to keep it from spoiling. They often pick their fruits and vegetables that day and put out for sale at the peak of ripeness.
Not only will your drinks taste better, but they will have many more vitamins and minerals because they were given time to fully mature on the vine before being picked.
